The only adjustment I did was normalizing, and then time aligned the Dallas and Drum tech feed. It's always a compromise, and I'd rather remove 90% of the metronome and leave the music intact instead of removing 99% of metronome and damaging the music.Īnd just for something different on this release, I'm releasing the raw feeds along side it. Clicks are mostly scrubbed, although there will be a bit of a remainder in sections. I played with mixing in the other two audience sources, but just didn't quite stitch together very well.Ĭounts are scrubbed, but you might hear the occasional artifact. My friend's audience rig had a recording failure, so no audience recording mixed in. Even with the snafu at the beginning, it was still a fun energetic show. Which is why they scratched Bad, as that song needs the synth backing track. U2 ended up just coming out direct, and no computer track until Streets. Major failure with Terry world at the beginning, as the computer track was only partially coming down, with several false starts. Big cavernous baseball stadium, and you can hear the slapback on the recording.

"As always, the band had to make sure it was right, and now it is."
"There has been continuous demand from U2 fans to have The Joshua Tree properly re-mastered," says Paul McGuinness. Including the singles I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Where The Streets Have No Name and With Or Without You, The Joshua Tree went on to sell in excess of 20 million. In 1987, The Joshua Tree reached Number 1 around the world and won a Grammy for "Album of the Year", while U2 won the Brit Award for Best International Act and Time Magazine put the band on its cover, proclaiming them "Rock's Hottest Ticket".
You can download the deluxe edition, including b-sides and demos from the original album sessions, exclusively from iTunes in the UK this Monday. The Joshua Tree, remastered from the original analogue tapes, begins worldwide release next week.
